Delicious Drink Recipes to serve this Chinese New Year
31/12/2022Christmas is almost here, and if you are like me, want to celebrate the celebration without the alcohol & still be merry – try these delicious mocktails. They are refreshing and mouthwatering. Here are 5 uniquely Malaysian mocktails for you to try, DIY-style.
Pandan Lemongrass

This mocktail is a delicious concoction of pandan, lemongrass and ginger that brings a delightful fragrance to the beverage, while also quenching your thirst on a hot day. And the flavour is divine!
An easy-to-make beverage to cool down on a hot day. Drink hot or over ice.

Ingredients
- 1 L of water
- 2-3 pandan leaves, tied into a knot
- 2 lemongrass stalks
- 2cm stem of ginger (optional)
- brown sugar to taste
Instructions
- Twist lemongrass stalks until they snap in a few places. Pound ginger to release juice.
- Heat up water in a pot together with pandan, lemongrass and optional ginger. Leave at boiling point for 10 minutes.
- Serve immediately with sugar to taste, or allow to cool and store in the fridge and drink within 24 hours
Sunshine mocktail

For a citrusy and juicy delight, the Sunshine Mocktail is the perfect go-to drink to serve as you lounge by the pool. Super easy and quick to make, with ingredients mimicking a fruit basket – from papayas and passionfruit to oranges and mangoes.
Ingredients
- ½ ripe banana
- ¼ papaya (or passionfruit)
- ¼ pineapple
- 15 ml passionfruit juice
- 30 ml mango juice
- 30 ml orange Juice
- 15 ml lime juice
Instructions
- Blend, strain and pour over ice.2. Best served cold. Enjoy!

Coconut Water Lemonade

Add some citrusy goodness to your everyday coconut water by squeezing some lemon to it. Refreshing and utterly delicious, this drink will transport to the seaside, enjoying the salty air of the ocean. With some lemons added to it and a few drop of calamansis, this drink will pack a zesty punch.
Ingredients
- 4 cups canned coconut water
- 5 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3 calamansi lime, extract the juice, optional
- 3 tablespoons sugar or agave nectar
- 2 lemons, sliced
- 2 cups ice
- mint leaves for garnishing
Instructions
- Slice the lemon into pieces, set aside.
- In a pitcher, combine the coconut water, lemon juice, calamansi lime juice and sugar together. Stir to mix well. Add the sliced lemons and ice into the pitcher. Pour the lemonade into glasses and garnish with mint leaves.
Strawberry Coconut Water Kefir Mocktail

Tangy coconut water kefir and fresh strawberries, blended together to create a magical mocktail, topped with a zesty side of limes can be the perfect companion for when you’re just basking under the summer heat. Super sour, yet super sweet, it’s the best concoction for a sultry day.
Combining the tang of fresh coconut kefir with the pink sweetness of strawberries, this cocktail is the perfect accompaniment to your Saturday afternoon barbeque. Fresh mint and a squeeze of lemon give it a distinctly adult flavour while enjoying the perks of being alcohol-free.
Ingredients
- 2 cups (500 mL/17 fl oz) Mad Millie Coconut Water Kefir
- 1 cup (250 mL) Strawberries, chopped
- 1 Lemon, squeezed
- Handful Ice cubes
- Fresh mint for garnishing
- 2 cups ice
- mint leaves for garnishing
Instructions
- Clean and chop the strawberries before adding them to a blender with the Coconut Water Kefir. Squeeze the lemon directly into the blender.
- Blend for 30 seconds.
- Pour over ice into glasses and garnish with mint.
Thyme & Apple Juice


An extraordinary combination that is not only refreshing but also healthy! Natural sweetness from the fruit & refreshing-ness from the cucumber. My personal favourite!
Ingredients
- 100ml Apple Juice (appx 1 ½ apple)
- 100ml cucumber Juice (appx 1 cucumber)
- 4 thyme leaves
- 12g lemongrass (1 stalk), white part only
- 2 pc cardomon
- 12g (1 table spoon) lemon juice
- 100ml soda water
- ice
Instructions
- Mash thyme leaves, lemongrass & cardomon , then put into glass.
- Juice the apple & the cucumber (juice them separately to get accurate volume).
- Pour juices into the glass with thyme, lemongrass & cardomon. Followed by lemon juice & soda water. Mix well.,
- Add ice
